I sang with Arthur in our church choir for over 30 years. His dedication to that activity was an inspiration and his love of music and life itself were always apparent. I will miss him dearly.

Arthur was one of the kindest, sweetest gentlemen we’ve ever known. From the time we joined the chancel choir at St. Paul’s, Arthur took us under his wing, and we’ve been friends ever since. The years we got to sing with him will always be special. However, we especially cherish the last few months when we visited him at Carillon House. During these visits, we got to experience Arthur’s wonderful sense of humor, playful nature, and consummate storytelling. Tales from his years in Alaska are particularly memorable. We will miss him dearly. Love to you all. You are in our prayers.
William R. (Bill) Elliott, Jefferson City, MO left a message on May 6, 2020:
I was a grad student at Texas Tech, 1969-1976, and temporary asst. prof. in 1977. Dr. Elliot and I (William R. Elliott) were friends, and we shared the same Scots name, although apparently from different branches of the clan with different spellings. He was always kind to me, despite my lowly status. I wish his family and friends condolences and good memories of this kind man.

Amy Odom left a message on May 5, 2020:
Dr. Elliott was my professor for Biology 1401 in the fall of 1991. He coached, taught and assisted me (a small town girl (my high school class had 18 people) in succeeding in his tough class. The study skills he taught helped me to succeed at Texas Tech - actually graduated with an agricultural communications degree in May of 1995. Any time I'm on campus and see the Biology building, Dr. Elliott immediately comes to mind. He had a profound effect on my success and subsequent graduation. My only hope is other professors follow in his footsteps and exhibit a caring nature toward their students. I never had an opportunity to thank him, and I'm sorry about that. He was very passionate about his career and the success of students and was patient when teaching concepts. Just know, he was an excellent, firm, tough teacher. As a parent, I hope my kids have a Dr. Elliott in their collegiate careers. So sorry for your loss. Rev 21:4
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

What a smile he had! And what a laugh! Try as you might, you could not stay in a bad mood when you were around him. Whenever he visited the biology department in later years, it was as if King Arthur himself was gracing us with his presence because everyone admired him so much. Students will remember him a legendary teacher who could get anyone (well, almost anyone) to see the beauty of plants and the wonders of botany. His spirit will live on as an enduring benediction in the hearts of all of us who knew him. And whenever we feel sad or weary from our burdens, we can find renewed hope by just recalling the twinkle in Arthur's eyes, the radiance of his face, and the charm of his smile. How lucky I feel to have been his colleague and friend!
Gary Hamilton left a message on May 2, 2020:
A great teacher and scientist but above all a consummate gentleman. I am ashamed to say that I didn’t appreciate Dr. Elliot as much as I should have at the time that I worked for him but from the perspective of 40 years, I can truly say it is blessing to have known him. Condolences to all of his family.

Thank you for the wonderful snapshot of your father's life. What a delight to see him in his younger days, dressed in uniform in Alaska. To actually see the camper that he drove around the country was a treat! His love of family is so evident in the pictures. Peter and I are thankful for the little periods of time that we spent with him. He was very easy to be around and I will miss laugh. Please accept are condolences on your loss.
