Anna “Ruth” Cantrell, 76, of Lubbock, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021. Memorial services are pending at this time.Ruth was born November 28, 1944, in Lubbock, Texas, to Lawrence Weldon Fulford and M. Drucilla Collier Fulford. After graduating from Brownfield High School in 1962, she got married and worked at home raising her kids. Later, Ruth went back to school, graduated from Texas Tech University, and went on to earn a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from Texas Tech School of Law in 1984. After law school, she worked as an Assistant District Attorney before eventually entering private practice. Ruth loved the law and loved serving her clients. She enjoyed watching her Texas Rangers, reading, playing bridge, and collecting Christmas ornaments to decorate her numerous Christmas trees.She is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Drucilla; sister Jorita Shaffer; and brother Larry Fulford.Ruth is survived by her son Richard Cantrell, Jr. and her daughter Brandi Cantrell both of Lubbock; brother, Loyd Fulford and wife, Diane of Walburg, Texas; former husband and good friend Richard Cantrell, Sr. of Lubbock; and many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and friends.You are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook, and share memories and sympathy expressions on this page.
