It is with great sadness that the family of Alvis John Plasker announce the sudden passing of our beloved Father and Grandfather on Thursday October 11, 2018, at the age of 69 years. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.
Al was born to Leonard John Plasker and wife, Fern Lucille in Tillamook, Oregon on June 25, 1949. A graduate of Nestucca Union High School in Cloverdale, Oregon in 1967, proud retiree of the United States Air Force and retiree of Boeing, Alvis’ biggest pride and joy were his two daughters.
Master Sergeant Plasker was honorably discharged after dedicating his life to the United States Air Force for 24 years. He proudly served during the Vietnam War in addition to serving in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm until 1992 when he retired from the military and went on to use his extensive aircraft pneudraulics systems experience working for Lockheed in Lubbock, TX before joining Boeing. Alvis retired from Boeing in 2010 in San Antonio, TX.
During his post at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware he celebrated the birth of his first daughter Kelly Diane. Three years later he became a proud father again when his second daughter Kristin Leigh was born while stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany.
All who knew Al understood he was a man with a heart of gold and turned the ordinary into extraordinary. He was a caretaker; selfless, humble, and giving all that he could to those around him. Among being an athlete, an artist, and jokester, his proudest accomplishments were being a loving father and grandfather. Morning pancakes, movie marathons, Donald Duck impressions, and spontaneous adventures were a few of his many cherished trademarks.
Alvis is survived by his children; daughters Kelly Plasker of Lubbock, TX and Kristin Plasker of San Antonio, TX and Son Jeff Hurliman of Cloverdale, OR. He is also survived by is grandchildren; Bailey and Spencer Jones of Lubbock, TX and Kelsea Hurliman of La Grande, OR. He is also survived by his sister Florence Peerson of Tillamook, OR.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers with reception to follow.
