She attended Frenship ISD and graduated in 1974. While Yolanda attended Frenship High School, she was a member of the Fighting Tiger Band, a twirler, and a high school cheerleader. After graduation, she went straight into the work field.Yolanda was raised by a single mom and grandma who loved her, her sister, and her brothers deeply. Her mom, grandma, brother, and sister have passed away so that just left her and her brother, Tony, they have always been close and have always been there for each other.Yolanda worked at Texas Instruments and sold cars at many dealerships in Lubbock. After many years of selling cars, she decided to make a career change. Yolanda went to school during the day and worked at night so that Yolanda could become a surgical tech. In 1988, she graduated with an Associates in Surgical Technology. After graduation, Yolanda went to work at West Texas Hospital for many years before working in many other hospitals in town. She was offered a position to work in an office with some amazing doctors. She ended her long work career at SWAT Surgical, where she was the Bariatric Coordinator. Throughout her long time in these two fields, she met so many beautiful coworkers and supervisors who became more than just friends, and they became family. While she did all these amazing things, she was a single mom with three children. Her first daughter, Leticia, was born in June 1974, second daughter, Rebecka, in February 1976 and her final baby boy, Steven, in November 1978. Yolanda worked day and night tirelessly to make a better life for her children. And when we, her children got older, we all made her a grandmother and a great grandmother.Yolanda married Alberto Carranco on June 3, 2000, at the Church on the Rock in Lubbock,Texas. There are so many things in life that mom loved to do, water skiing, snow skiing, boating, bingo, fishing, and softball. Those who knew mom knew that she loved the casinos. Mom lived for the diamond; she coached men’s softball for more than twenty years and loved to yell at her boys from the softball team. We all knew that she loved all the things, but there was one thing she loved the most, and that was her family. The family was everything to her.She had an amazing husband, Albert, who took care of her until the very end. This year would have been their 20th wedding anniversary. Albert and our mom had an adventurous life. They made many trips together and loved each other with all their being.Mom loved to take her whole family on trips. We would go camping at the lake, Ruidoso, Las Vegas, Suns Island, anywhere she could spend quality time with the entire family. That was our mom; Yolanda loved family and loved to take care of them. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We never had to ask for help; for some reason, she always knew if we needed it. So, if you ever had a chance to have met her, you knew you had a friend for life.Thank you, mom, for being our hero, you will be missed. We will love you for the rest of our lives, and your memory will live on through our children and their children until we meet again.Survivors include her husband, Alberto Carranco; children, Leticia Granado, Rebecka Martinez and husband, John, and Stephen Salas and wife, Martha; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Granado and wife, Alexandra, Adrianna Granado, Cassandra Martinez and husband Joshua, Justin Martinez, Jessica Martinez, Rudy Martinez, Anissa Salas, Jesus Monsivais and wife, Andrea, and Ariana Monsivais; three great-grandchildren, Aleena Granado, Brooklynn Martinez, Gabriel Monsivais; and brother, Antonio Menchaca, and wife, Kaci. She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Campos; mother, Gloria Aguirre; brother, Ricky Flores; and sister, Sylvia Trevino.
