William K. “Bill” Sherman passed away January 23, 2019. A viewing is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 prior to the 2 p.m. service at Main Street Church of Christ in Lockney.Bill Sherman was born on June 14, 1935 to Elfie and Lewis K. “Shorty” Sherman in Haskell, TX. He grew up in Lockney, TX and graduated from Lockney High School in 1953. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jo Bonner on June 4, 1954 in Lockney, TX. They raised 5 children.He was a successful farmer in the Lone Star Community from 1959 until 2019. Bill was known for thinking outside the box building a unique adobe home with his own hands and establishing a well-known landmark, the Sherman Pecan Orchard, in Northern Floyd County. He was a gifted wood worker and builder as evident in his adobe home. Bill was a Christian leader in the community. He directly influenced his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Sherman; children, Karla Gayle Cunyus and husband, Jackie; Joni Kay Wilson; Mac Aaron Sherman and wife, Robin; William Robert and wife, Melissa; daughter-in-law, Lezlee Sherman. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren 17 great-grandchildren, 2 on the way with more expected. A brother, Tommy Joe Sherman and wife, June; and a sister Billie Gayle Ray also survive him.He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Eldrid Sherman.We’ll miss you forever Daddy Bill.
