Willard Dale Ellis passed away on December 21, 2019. The family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 27, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. We will celebrate his life of 69 years at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Redbud Baptist Church. Family and friends may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for the family to cherish in the space provided below the obituary.Willard Ellis was born on November 9, 1950, to John and Corene Ellis in Hereford, TX. Willard graduated from Coronado High School in 1969. He then proceeded to get his Bachelor’s degree in microbiology at Texas Tech University. After graduation he took a commission in The United States Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant in the security services. Willard worked in many fields including, Chief of Security at St. Mary’s Hospital, Owner of Aardvark Safe and Lock, Maintenance Director at J.B. Wheeler correctional facility, and Locksmith for the Lubbock Independent School District. He was a deacon at Redbud Baptist church and a member of the South Plains Woodturners Association. He had many hobbies and skills including metal working, gunsmithing, carpentry, and helping out anyone that called with anything he had the power to do. He married Sue Grisham Ellis on Dec. 26, 2013 at Redbud Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Sue Ellis; children, Shawna Doshier and husband Doug of Amarillo, Ty Ellis and wife Chelsea McPhail of Lubbock, Andrew Grisham of Lubbock, Amy Moss and husband James of Lubbock, Alicia Castleman of Lubbock, and Drew Moody of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Kaylee Ellis, Nathan Doshier, and David Doshier; brother, John Ellis, Jr. of Longview; and sister, Ellene Riffe of Sarasota.He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife of 32 years, Denise Ellis.In lieu of flowers, the family of Willard Ellis suggests a donation to your favorite charity in his memory.
