Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 78 years at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, followed by a reception at Lake Ridge Chapel.“Fuzz” was born in a farm house in Southwestern Haskell County, June 1940, to Charley and Mildred Jones. The family moved to Tokio, Texas in 1942, were he attended school in Gomez and Plains. He graduated Plains High School in 1958 and attended San Angelo College.He was employed at Tokio Co-op Gin and Brownfield Co-op Gin many years. He was employed at Romain Telephone Co. 35 ½ years serving in the Plains and Higginbotham communities. During his years with the telephone company he attended Telephone Schools in Anaheim, California; Raleigh and Durham, South Carolina; Austin and Dallas, Texas; Texas A&M University; El Reno, Oklahoma; and Harrison Arkansas. Also, as an employee of the Telephone Co., he served with Plains Lions Club, Plains Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee of Yoakum Federal Credit Union. “Fuzz” was also a farmer and farmed in Tokio, and Bronco communities for several years.He was Assistant Boy Scout Leader – Troop 778 for many years and he attended organizational meeting of Yoakum County Watermelon Roundup. He enjoyed water skiing and boating. He was a Mall Walker where he enjoyed visiting with all the veterans.He was a Guardian on October 2012 South Plains Honor Flight for William “Bill” Myers, disabled U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a lifetime member of the awesome Caprock Classic Car Club Member of the year in 2011. He enjoyed car shows and helping with Texas Tech Homecoming Parade, July 4th Parade in Lubbock, weddings, graduations, and benefit shows.Fuzz loved his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents, his brother, Ray Jones; and his sisters, Wanda Mehl and Barbara Bowman.He is survived by his son Brad, wife Julie, Charley and Sophia, of Carlsbad, NM; foster daughter and granddaughter, Heather and Gabrielle White of Lubbock; Sisters, Elaine Lewis of Hamlin, TX, Linda Carmack of Eunice, NM, and Marilyn McCormick of Levelland, TX.
