The family of Tim Holt will celebrate his life of 70 years at 10 am on Monday, November 9, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers with Mark McMillian, family pastor and friend, officiating. His family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, November 08, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers to share stories and memories of Tim. In support of the health of his family, face coverings are mandatory while attending the service. The service will be live-streamed on this page, where you are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy.Timothy Alan Holt peacefully closed his eyes on this earth on November 5, 2020, and opened them in the wonderful land of heaven, where music and joy, and for Tim – where puppies romp and play. He will be deeply missed by his family.Born to Ernest R. ”Slim” Holt and Jessie Marguraite Robertson on October 15, 1950, in Midland, he was the “Bonus” baby to a family of one brother and two sisters, He grew up in Odessa, Texas where Tim would graduate in 1969 from Odessa High. He would participate in the tennis team with success in competition tournaments throughout West Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Mathematics and Tim taught 28 years in Lubbock ISD as a math teacher at O.L. Slaton Jr. High. He finished his educational career with an additional 8 years at Morton ISD as Computer Technology Instructor.His retirement years were filled with substitute teaching in the Frenship ISD and serving as a faithful member of the FHS Tiger Band Pit crew for many years, a tireless bus parent, and volunteer for the Tiger Band. He enjoyed his time as an Uber driver, meeting people of all walks and situations, and helping people who needed help. Tim was fiercely loyal to his fur babies who have all crossed the rainbow bridge before him. A pack of puppies greeted his first steps.He met Lynda Karen Drake through mutual teaching friends and on July 2, 1976, they joined their hearts in a union that would span 44 years. Tim was baptized at Monterey Baptist Church in 1975 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wolfforth.Tim was a lover of music—all kinds of music, but especially of the Lubbock music scene that prevailed in the ’60s and ’70s. He could answer any question about this “vintage” music, much of which will be heard at his visitation and funeral service. For the family November 5 will be the “Day the Music Died”, but every listen to a vintage song in the future will be memory-filled of Tim.He was a devoted grandfather to Lily Katherine and Katherine Grace. He was Poppy—the Man, the Myth, and the Legend.He is remembered and survived by his wife, Karen of Wolfforth, his daughters, Amanda Knight of Lubbock, and Mollie Kelly (Kevin) of Houston, his sisters Linda Hinds (Harlan) of Junction and Annette Sharp of Levelland. His memory will be carried forward by 2 granddaughters, Lily and Katy. He’s also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.Tim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother E. R. Jr, one brother-in-law, Hiram Sharp, a sister-in-law, Susie Barnett, and a nephew, Joseph Stargel.
