Walter Scott Hardy was born February 8, 1957, to Jimmy and JoAnn Miller Hardy in Nacogdoches, TX. Scott’s father served as pastor of Bryan Street Baptist Church in Lamesa, Tx. The family moved to Lubbock in 1968 when he accepted the position of pastor at Melonie Park Baptist church.
Scott graduated from Monterey High School in 1975 and attended Texas Tech University for a short time before moving to East Texas where he met his bride, Mary Marceline (Marcy) Wilson. They met and were married at Bethel Baptist Church in New Caney TX, on December 3, 1977, and enjoyed 47 years of marriage. His plumbing career began in East Texas in 1977 and in 1978 they welcomed their first daughter, Jennifer. They then moved to Lubbock, TX where he began his 42 years as a Master Plumber Contractor. They completed their family, welcoming their second daughter, Amy in 1981. He was the best Girl Dad!
Scott began his journey of officiating football in 1998 and continued until 2022. Scott had the opportunity to officiate youth through college football, where he made many lifelong friends and mentored many young men. He loved all his years on the field. After being retired for several years from plumbing, he was hired to build a plumbing program at Frenship High School in 2022 and he taught for two years.
Scott was happiest through adventures with his loved ones. He loved to snow ski, ride motorcycles, four wheelers, being on the football field, driving “Taupe Floats” (boat) on the lake, and spending time with his family, especially his 6 grandkids.
