Sarah Aisha Marken, known to friends and family as Sarah Aisha Akbar-Ali Marken, passed away on May 14, 2023, at the age of 35. Born in Lubbock, Texas, on November 17, 1987, Sarah was a loving, courageous, and kind woman who touched the lives of everyone she met.

Sarah is survived by her son, Liam Aiden Marken, spouse, Alec Marken; parents, LaEtta (Craig) Babiash and R. B. Akbarali, sister Anna (Ryun) Martinez, nephews Quinn and Grey, and maternal grandmother, Ruby Faye Carter. Her family was her pride and joy; she cherished every moment spent with them.

She met Alec in California, married in Lubbock, Texas, and a year later Liam Aiden was born. Liam was the unconditional love of her life. She sang to him, read books to him, and played jingles for him because he was her world. She wore her crown as a new mother with such strength, resilience, and determination to be the best she could be for little Liam.

Sarah enjoyed being an avid reader of fantasy and mystery books, movies, all things Disney, and dance. She was enthusiastic about Bollywood to Hollywood movies. As a dance instructor and performer, she shared her love for movement and expression with countless students and audiences. Sarah was also the owner and founder of Treat Time Pet Sitters. She loved all kinds of animals. Her favorite colors were all shades of pink. She loved rainy days and moonlit nights, finding solace and inspiration in the beauty of nature.

Always eager to learn about her roots, Sarah took great interest in her Scottish ancestry, attending events such as the Highland Games. She also enjoyed traveling to Singapore to visit family and immerse herself in her rich cultural heritage. These experiences allowed Sarah to connect deeply with her family and her past. Sarah was known for her quick-witted humor and uncanny ability to recall the lyrics of her favorite songs and movie lines. But what set Sarah apart was her gift for truly noticing people. She made everyone feel seen and heard, generously giving her time and attention to those around her. This gift of empathy and connection made Sarah invaluable in the lives of her family and friends.

In her 35 years, Sarah Aisha Akbar-Ali Marken impacted the hearts and minds of those who knew her. Sarah was loving, courageous, and kind spirit will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the stories and moments shared by those fortunate enough to know her.

LaEtta, RB, Anna, Craig and family, I will never forget Sarah. She was the strongest and brightest light you could imagine, and her personality shone through even as she experienced unthinkable adversity. Her open mind and quick wit were so refreshing. I gave Hamilton a watch for her and it was awesome! My heart will always be broken for you all, but also fuller for having met her. May her memory bring you comfort until you meet again. What a beautiful tribute to Sarah. I haven’t seen her for 17 years, but I am so inspired by Sarah’s strength and her love for her family described here. Sarah’s third grade birthday party was the source of my learning about the wonders of cheese whiz on crackers! My affinity for that snack has not lasted, but I will always remember how she made me feel. Sarah was always very kind and inclusive to me. My deepest condolences to her family.

Oh Sarah sweetheart, you are going to be missed. My daughter loves you so much and that's why she always wanted to be at your house. All the special memories I have in my heart are all the birthday parties Valerie and Sarah shared from swimming, skating and dance parties and they were always a success. Sarah, you are loved by soooo many and you will be missed but we are all thankful for precious memories. ❤️

I'm so sorry for y'all loss prayers and hugs to you all I love my Scifers family. Sarah was a sweet person she will be missed deeply. To her sweet mom and grandma and sister love you guys and prayers and hugs to y'all and to her husband and son I'm so sorry for y'all loss.

Sarah, there is so much to say about you in the six months that I got to know you and your family, so much so that a few paragraphs or sentences may not fully capture everything but I will try. Sarah is one of the strongest ladies I ever met. In the face of adversity and venerability, Sarah was brave and graceful in her approach to everything. Sarah as a mother, displayed her unflinching, unconditional love and care for Liam and put his well-being above everything else. Sarah, your physical presence will definitely be missed but in every little way I can, I will always celebrate the strong, loving, God-fearing young woman that I got to know. We love you, Sarah!
