Sarah Aisha Marken, known to friends and family as Sarah Aisha Akbar-Ali Marken, passed away on May 14, 2023, at the age of 35. Born in Lubbock, Texas, on November 17, 1987, Sarah was a loving, courageous, and kind woman who touched the lives of everyone she met.
Sarah is survived by her son, Liam Aiden Marken, spouse, Alec Marken; parents, LaEtta (Craig) Babiash and R. B. Akbarali, sister Anna (Ryun) Martinez, nephews Quinn and Grey, and maternal grandmother, Ruby Faye Carter. Her family was her pride and joy; she cherished every moment spent with them.
She met Alec in California, married in Lubbock, Texas, and a year later Liam Aiden was born. Liam was the unconditional love of her life. She sang to him, read books to him, and played jingles for him because he was her world. She wore her crown as a new mother with such strength, resilience, and determination to be the best she could be for little Liam.
Sarah enjoyed being an avid reader of fantasy and mystery books, movies, all things Disney, and dance. She was enthusiastic about Bollywood to Hollywood movies. As a dance instructor and performer, she shared her love for movement and expression with countless students and audiences. Sarah was also the owner and founder of Treat Time Pet Sitters. She loved all kinds of animals. Her favorite colors were all shades of pink. She loved rainy days and moonlit nights, finding solace and inspiration in the beauty of nature.
Always eager to learn about her roots, Sarah took great interest in her Scottish ancestry, attending events such as the Highland Games. She also enjoyed traveling to Singapore to visit family and immerse herself in her rich cultural heritage. These experiences allowed Sarah to connect deeply with her family and her past. Sarah was known for her quick-witted humor and uncanny ability to recall the lyrics of her favorite songs and movie lines. But what set Sarah apart was her gift for truly noticing people. She made everyone feel seen and heard, generously giving her time and attention to those around her. This gift of empathy and connection made Sarah invaluable in the lives of her family and friends.
In her 35 years, Sarah Aisha Akbar-Ali Marken impacted the hearts and minds of those who knew her. Sarah was loving, courageous, and kind spirit will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the stories and moments shared by those fortunate enough to know her.
