Robin Fred Decker was born on July 18, 1957, to Anton and Pauline Kuntz Decker in Dickinson, North Dakota. He lived on a farm with his parents and 12 siblings. After Robin graduated from South Heart High School in 1976, he worked various jobs; his last one was with Dakota Auger where he learned to weld. On November 18, 1983 he married Mary Ward at St. Joseph’s Church in Dickinson. They moved to Lubbock, Texas where he worked as a Journeyman Plumber for various residential plumbing companies. In 2001, Robin began working for Texas Tech University where he worked for several different departments over the years and subsequently retired in August 2018.
Robin’s love for cars started at an early age wrenching on anything with gears with his brothers and neighbors and swapping engines like it was race day. He loved riding his motorcycle through the country dropping in and out of the ditches like a pro. As his love of cars and speed grew, he settled on the car of his dreams…the ‘67 Camaro! His car has been his lifetime project and continued to be his lifeline until his final ride on November 17, 2018. He had a smile as big as Texas and was so thankful to all who helped him along the way.
Survivors include his three daughters, Katie McNamara and spouse, Justin; Kendra Ferry and spouse, Stephen; and Marissa Decker and spouse, Elaine; three grandchildren, Vivian Ferry, Rye McNamara, and Cyrus Decker; his blue heeler, Holley, his brothers: Ronald (Signe) Decker, Round Rock, TX.; Herbert Decker, Duane (Bonnie) Decker, Dickinson, ND., Dick (Michelle) Decker, Billings, MT.
