Richey Dean Stewart passed away on August 23, 2019. A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 52 years at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 4:30 pm at Dalhart Memorial Park cemetery in Dalhart, Texas.Richey Dean was born on June 29, 1967, to Randall and Wilma Callen Stewart in Dalhart, Texas. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 1986. Richey always looked forward to Callen’s basketball games at Frenship. He also enjoyed playing golf with Callen on Sunday mornings during Callen’s time in high school; as long as he won of course.Survivors include his son, Callen Reed Stewart; father, Randall D. Stewart and wife, Linda; sister, Valerie Marshall; brother, Randall Stewart, Jr. and wife, Denise; niece, Destini King and husband, Rusty; nephew, Dane Stewart and wife, Aubree; nephew, Zane Stewart and wife, Whitney; niece, Alisyn Gravel and husband, Stephen; nephew, Clay Hill and wife, Kelissa; nephew, Coy Stewart; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Dean Stewart.

I was shocked and saddened to hear the news over the weekend. I worked with Richey at Gene Messer and I am devastated for him, his family, friends, and co-workers at Gene Messer. I'm going to miss seeing Richey when I stop by the store to see old friends and former co-workers.

I still have a ring that Richey gave me when we were in 4th grade … Kori Cummings and I used to trade boyfriends every week and I thought I was SO LUCKY because "my week" fell on Valentines Day and Richey had stuck the ring in my Valentine's card! He had such a kind heart and will be so missed...

I knew Richey because of my son Travis Ferguson. How could you not love Richey, his heart was so big, and he had fought a good fight. Prayers for his family and all who loved him. He has been heavy on my heart for months, was a great man.

If anybody ventured into Richey's office, they would inevitably see several pictures of his son. I met his son once, but I felt as if I had known him forever through Richey. He was the light of Richey's life. Those of us who knew Richey knew of his demons. We also knew that Richey was a wonderful soul. I only wish that I could have the strength to pull myself up and fight back as many times as that man did. It is in our nature to judge. But until we walk a mile in someone else's shoes, we should show respect for those who fight for life while those inner demons are pulling us downward. I'll miss Richey.

Richey was such a sweet man. I went to kindergarten with him and high school prom. I enjoyed catching up with him throughout the years. He will be missed!
