He was born to Utis “Dale” and Irene (Koen) Rice. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1959. After traveling in the rodeo circuit for several years, Dick settled in Lubbock and began his 30-year career with Lubbock Electric Co. Dick retired from Lubbock Electric in 1996 to open Rice Coins. He followed up with 4 years as a salesman for High Plains Electric.Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Utis and Irene.He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Sharron (Pierce) Rice, married in Lubbock on May 5, 1987; his sons, Shawn Dale Rice, Richard Dale Rice, Jr., Michael Webster; brother, Mark Rice; grandchildren, Victoria Lupton and Mikayla “Sweet Pea” Webster.In life, Dick enjoyed playing softball, bowling, coin & card collecting, and a round of golf or two. Anything Dick did, he gave it 110%, including his friendships and relationship with the Lord.Dick loved his family dearly, and he will be greatly missed.
