The family of Rachel High will celebrate her life of 59 years at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at West Texas Church at The Barn, 8322 County Rd 6500, Lubbock. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 05, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She passed on Thursday, September 30, 2021. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign her virtual guestbook, and download her memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing. On August 17, 1962, Rachel Garcia was born to the late Cruz and Narcissa Garcia in Lubbock, TX. She grew up working on the farm with her brothers, mother, and father. She attended Frenship all throughout her educational career and graduated from Frenship High School in 1981. While in high school, she also competed and went to state in track and field for the discus throw. From there, she went on to have two beautiful boys, Chad in 1986 and Chase in 1990, who gave her a run for her money till the very end. Then she met Henry in 1994 and married him in 1996. She was so mad at Henry when he shaved his mustache on their wedding day. She told him, “NEVER AGAIN will you do that,” and he never did! She was madder than a bull in a china closet. They were going to be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary this year on October 26. Throughout the years, she worked at ClassOne Orthodontics, Scarborough Specialties, and finally, the last eight years, she has worked as an activities assistant at Carillon House. She loved getting to know the residents that came in and out of the facility while also decorating the facility for the holidays and throwing parties for those same residents that would never get to go home. She met some of her closest friends while working there, and she impacted so many lives, not only the residents’ lives but everyone that she worked with. She loved to serve people, especially her family. When her dad and brothers were on the Wolfforth Fire Department, she and her mom Narcissa would make burritos in the early morning hours. Then when her husband and sons joined the same department, she continued the tradition, but she also would show up on scene with drinks and much more. She especially loved when the boys would have multiple grass fires because that meant she got to hop in the car and go be nosey and watch them all work. She made sure that everyone who would serve others were served themselves. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She would spoil everyone without ever expecting anything in return. Without fail, she made sure her family would have a feast on Christmas Eve. During the Fourth of July, she loved popping fireworks with her kids and grandkids and then going to the park to watch the big show. More than anything, her favorite times were the weekends because she would steal her two granddaughters Piper and Skylar away and have a party at Nana and PaPa’s house. She would feed them Dr. Pepper all weekend and then send them back home. No wonder the girls always asked to go over there. Rachel was the best daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, and Nana that anyone could have ever asked for. The world lost an amazing, beautiful, selfless individual, but heaven gained a mighty warrior, and her family gained a precious Guardian Angel.
In the words of Rachel… “See you later Sucka!!!”
