Paula Kolas, age 68, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025. Born on October 16, 1956, in Washington, D.C., Paula was a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Paula graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and embarked on a fulfilling career before retiring to fully embrace the joys of life. She found happiness in the simple pleasures—immersing herself in books, enjoying her favorite shows on the Food Network and home remodeling programs, and thrilling crime dramas. Learning and sharing knowledge were cornerstones of Paula’s life. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her nine beloved grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Paula’s deep faith and unwavering love for Jesus guided her every step,
illuminating her path and the lives of those around her.
She is survived by her devoted husband Richard Kolas; her children, Victoria Caughron, Jessica Kolas, Michale Kolas, Christine Kolas, and Joseph Kolas; her nine grandchildren; and her four siblings, Helen Christian, Robert Powell, Charlie Powell, and Rebecca Merkel.
Paula was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Kolas.
Services were held to celebrate Paula’s life at Connect Church in Lubbock, Tx., recognizing her love for the Lord and the profound impact she had on family, friends, and students.

Paula Kolas will be deeply missed, but her warmth and compassion will live on through the many lives she touched.
