Mike Sanders

Mike Sanders passed away December 21, 2018. A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 71 years at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel. Mike Sanders was born on September 3, 1947, to Adolph and Margaret Perez Acevedo in New Jersey. Micheal married Maria Canales Sanders on August 14, 1968, in Lubbock, Texas. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He worked hard to provide for his family.  Mike loved working on cars, rebuilding motors, gardening, farming, and going to the drag races.  He taught his two sons to hot rod in the streets of Lubbock.  He would always give out what he had, from a place to stay, food to eat, or a helping hand.  He was always friendly to everyone he met.  Mike’s favorite Christmas past time was eating tamales and drinking coffee with the love of his life, Mary. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Sanders; children, Mike Acevedo and wife, Missy; Gloria Henderson, Kathy Ortiz, and Teddy Acevedo and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Micheal Acevedo and wife, Heather; Coty Acevedo, Jeremy, Justin, and Heavenly Henderson; Samantha Valdez and husband, David; Johnny Hernandez and wife, Jessica; Ricky Ortiz and wife, Sabrina; Kayla DeLeon and husband, Alex; and Kinsey Acevedo; great-grandchildren, Star Gamboa, Jeremiah Anthony, Gabby, and Jolynn Hernandez; Carson and Charity Ortiz; siblings, Virginia, George, Adolph, Carlos, Rosa, Gilbert, Morris, and Ruthie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Jerry Henderson.
