Lackey on August 30, 1936. She graduated from Kiowa High School. After graduating high school, she went to work for McKelvey Laundry in McAlester, OK. From there, she moved to Richardson and began working for Texas Instruments in various positions for 35 years. After retiring from TI, Meldon went to work for United Supermarkets where she served samples for 10 years to many guests who also became friends. Meldon was a founding member of Calvary Chapel Assembly of God Church in Richardson. Upon moving to Lubbock, she then became a member of Trinity Church in 1977.She had many hobbies, including sewing, bowling, square dancing, and going to Hobbs to play slot machines! Many of you probably do not know, but Mom adopted us and took us in and cared for us as if she birthed us. She lived a life of sacrifice, and she and all of the Lackey’s treated us just as if we were born into this family. There is no way to express our thanks and love enough for a family who took in these two children and gave them a life and a future that otherwise would have looked very different. It’s because of them that we always felt we belonged, but also because of them, our destiny in the Kingdom of Jesus was forever changed. Mom, if ever a crown was earned, you’ve earned it. You are receiving a just reward for your unwavering love for us.Survivors include her son, Randy Turner(Bobbie) of Abilene, daughter Gwen Stabler (Rusty) of Lubbock, her sister, Sandra Lackey Wichern (Richard), of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Geoffrey Turner(Sarah Machele), Sarah (Derick) Dotson, Emily (Tyler) Hicks, Landon Turner, Brittany (Dzamko) Dillon Beesinger, great-grandchildren, Berkley Turner, Ellie Kate Turner, Paisley Beesinger, Reydon Beesinger, Judson Beesinger; nephews Nathan Wichern (Edrie), MO and Chris Wichern, CA; and three great-nieces and nephews and several cousins of whom she was close to all.Meldon was preceded in death by her parents, CL and Anna L.
