On September 27, 1932, Mae Dell was born to Ethel and Nomie Harris in Gustine, TX. She married Charles Drake on June 2, 1950, in Idalou, TX and they celebrated 70 years together in 2020. They were residents of Idalou TX since 1948 where both graduated from Idalou High School. The house on Fir Street was their residence for 65 years. They raised 3 children and were involved in every activity the kids signed up to do. They were devoted fans for their children in all their activities. Mae Dell loved planting and cultivating her yard with beautiful flowers and plants. She enjoyed cooking and made certain no one left the table hungry.
She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a scout leader. A devoted member of the Idalou Church of Christ. With Charles, they managed the Idalou Cemetery for over 50 years and supervised the building of the Chapel and Bell. They enjoyed traveling and made friends everywhere they went. Dell was Assistant Vice President of Idalou State Bank. She later worked as a Deputy to the Justice of the Peace Earl Yarborough and later moved to Judge Blackburn’s court in the Lubbock County Courthouse. She then worked with her daughter at Drake Design Photography.
Survivors include her children, Ed(Donna)Drake, Don(Marsha)Drake, Kathy (Steve)Dabbs; grandchildren, Jennifer(Jim)Gillmore, Justin(Melissa)Dabbs, Paul Drake, Tanna Alderman; great-grandchildren, Drake, Tucker & Charlie Cagle, Paige & Jack Dabbs, Alexis LaBarera, great-great-grandson, Dylan LaBarera, sister Shirley Burton. Sister in laws, Susie Drake, Jane Drake, and Joyce Drake.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Charles, brothers Bertis Harris & Glenn Harris, sisters Maxine Sisk and Judy Ware.

Mae Dell arrived at the gates of heaven on Sunday January 14th.
