It is with great sadness that the family of Mack H. Strain shares his sudden passing on June 8th, 2025, at his home in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 78.
Mack was born on May 31st, 1947, in Plainview, TX, to Harry Strain and Bea (Strain) (Shafer). He grew up in Eastern New Mexico, graduating from Dora High School in Dora, NM, in 1966. He held a variety of employments in Eastern New Mexico, Washington State, and Texas, including Cowboy, Police Officer, Orchardist, Carpenter, and heavy equipment operator. Of these jobs, he enjoyed ranch life the most, loving to watch rodeo and participate as a calf roper. He was a blue-collar, hard-working man who would give you the shirt off his back.
Mack enjoyed family life, especially attending the soccer and baseball games of his grandson, Canaan Carey, when his health would allow it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Chris Strain, and his grandson Colton Carey.
Surviving Mack are his wife of 22 years, Cherryll Hall Strain of the home, his brother Chuck (A.J.) Strain of Portales, NM, sons Matthew (Kari) Strain of Cashmere, WA, and Stephen (Jennifer) Strain of Russellville, Arkansas; daughters Michelle Brown of Wenachee, WA, and Rachel (Jared) Carey of Lubbock, TX, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cremation is under the direction of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Mack had requested that no formal funeral service be held.
