Lindy Moring Swetnam of Lubbock, known to many as “Coach Swetnam” or “Gammy,” passed away peacefully on February 6, 2019, with family by her side. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 69 years at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, in the Lorenzo High School Gym, Lorenzo, Texas, followed by a reception.Lindy was born on June 16, 1949, in Hico, TX to J.D. (Bob) and Gwendolyn Moring. She grew up in Cotton Center, Texas. Lindy graduated from Texas Tech University and taught school at Lorenzo ISD for 39 years, coaching 14 of those years with her dear friend Coach Joey Nichols.She found great joy in watching her children and grandchildren compete. Gammy was a fixture in the stands during her grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved her grandchildren’s friends and teammates as if they were her own. She loved her Lorenzo students and parents like family as well.Lindy was preceded in death by her parents and a special aunt, Maxine Weaver.She is survived by sons, Rik Swetnam of Lubbock and his children Anthony, Nicholas, Matthew, David, Lee, Nichelle, Scotty, and Ali; Kane Swetnam of Frisco, his wife, Selena and their sons Austin, Mason, Evan, and Easton; daughter, Jenny Siegel of Lubbock, her husband, Tim and their children Alex (Matt), Kate, Ellie, and Luke; great-grandchildren Tommy, Alyziah, Bailey, Jo-Lucas, Gemini, Lily, Brayden, and Nate; sister, Debbie and husband, Bob Palmer of Lubbock; and brother Donald Lyn Moring of Post.Lindy was an amazing mom, Gammy, friend, sister, and coach. She will be missed by many.
