With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathleen Rose Yates, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She and left this world on February 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Kathleen was born on March 4, 1965, in Keene, New Hampshire, to Raymond and Judith (DesJardins) Spoon. She graduated from Conant High School and attended college. She moved to Lubbock in 1994 and married Todd Yates on August 13, 2017. They were members of the Lubbock Seventh Day Adventist Church. Kathleen worked for Wal-Mart and a few other companies, however her favorite job was Inventory Specialist for Bed Bath and Beyond. She enjoyed gardening, beekeeping with her husband, and was known for her caring nature, always looking out for those around her. Kathleen’s contagious smile, kind spirit, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Todd L. Yates, her adoring children Angela Rose (Angelo) Valdez, BilliJo Caley, Jacquelynn Rose (Buster) DeLeon, Judith-Ann Pate, and Jacksen Pate, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Josiah Leyva, Alexandria Leyva, Esperanza Derbez, Damian Wood, Kaitlynn Caley, Austyn Caley, Hendrix DeLeon, and Eris DeLeon, great-grandchild, Amelia Leyva. Kathleen also leaves behind her siblings, Raymond Albert (Dawn) Spoon III, Debora Elaine Rouleau, Susan Elizabeth Bouley, Julie Anne (William) McNutt, Diane Marie (Carl) Aho, and Mary Judith (Pete Deiana) Spoon, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents, Raymond Spoon II and Judith Spoon; and a brother, James Roland Spoon.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Kathleen’s honor on her birthday, March 4, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers followed by a reception at the Lubbock Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Kathleen’s memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May her gentle soul rest in peace while she sleeps waiting for our Lord Jesus Christ.
