Kathleen “Kathy” Cain White, 80, of Lubbock, passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on January 21, 2019. The daughter of H. L. “Homer” and Ruby Cain, of Lubbock, Kathy was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 17, 1938. She was a lifelong resident of Lubbock, attended Lubbock High School and was in the first graduating class of Monterey High School in 1956. Kathy graduated from Texas Tech in 1959 with her bachelor’s degree in education, was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and the Texas Tech Rodeo Club. During college, Kathy met the love of her life, Wayne R. White, who she married on August 22, 1959. They were married for 34 years until his death. She taught elementary school before taking on the role of a full-time wife, mother, farmer, rancher and oil operator. Kathy was co-owner of White Land & Cattle Company.Kathy and Wayne raised their children at the Broadway Church of Christ, where she was a lifelong member and sang with the wedding chorus during her younger years. Kathy loved sports and all things Texas Tech. She was active in several bridge clubs with friends. Her true love and pride were her children and grandchildren whom affectionately called her “Nana”. Nana was at every extracurricular activity which included all sporting events, dance recitals, tennis matches, rodeo events and choir concerts.She is survived by her daughter Renee Guthrie and husband Ronnie, of Clovis, NM; son Brad White and wife Sheila, of Lubbock, TX; seven grandchildren Dustin Martin and wife Jennifer, of Lubbock, Bryan Martin and wife Kalli, of Floydada; Whitney White, Barclay White and wife Katherine, and Bryce White, all of Lubbock; Deanne Guthrie and Rhett Guthrie, of Clovis; and three great-granddaughters, her sister-in-law Sherry Hayes and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Leonard Cain.The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Robertson and his staff for more than 25 years of loving care, the staff at the Isle at Raider Ranch and Hospice of Lubbock for their kindness.A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 80 years at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Monterey Church of Christ.
