Joyce Vilseck

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Joyce Slough Vilseck’s 83 years of life is scheduled at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Westlawn Memorial Park in Dimmitt, Texas. She passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

Joyce was born November 27, 1939, to James and Ruth Huston Slough in Perryton, TX.  The family lived in Perryton, TX, until 1953, when they moved to Dimmitt, TX.  Joyce graduated from Dimmit High School in 1958.  She then attended West Texas State University, Canyon, TX, where she earned her BS and Master’s Degrees in Math.  She was hired in September, 1965 to teach in the Math Department at Texas A & I University, Kingsville, TX, and continued to teach there until retiring in 2003.  After retiring, Joyce moved to Lubbock, TX, where she lived until her passing.

Joyce is survived by sister Edna (Bill) Slough-Rice; nieces and nephews Barbara (Tom) Quinn, Robert (Barbara) Moss, James (Amy) Moss, Cynthia Wells, Christie (Jacob J.) Slough, Deborah Wingar, Michelle Rice, William (Kayla) Rice, Russell (Jennifer) Rice, and blessed with many great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents, James and Ruth Slough; siblings, James Ray Slough, Russell Eugene Slough, and Karon Ruth Slough Moss.

Memorials:  The family of Joyce Slough Vilseck has designated Alzheimer’s Association/Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia Help, for memorial contributions donated in her memory.
