They walked into their blind date and both instantly fell in love. Marcy instantly knew Josh had a deep love and passion for many things. He constantly spoke of his niece Breanna and his PawPaw Keener, and also of his grandmother Jeanette whom he adored. He was the oldest brother of three and at times I am sure took this job quite seriously. I am sure Jim and Joedy can tell you about black eyes and bruised legs no doubt given to them by older brother Josh. He had a love of sports from a young age often going to his uncle’s sporting events, proudly winning state for the Sudan Hornets in football, coaching little league and youth football and playing many games of softball with his team Outcast. Josh loved his job with the TDCJ and proudly worked for them for 13 years. He was passionate about music—playing in the school band and playing music with his dad. The love of his life was born on February 7, 2010. On August 31, 2010, Trae was placed in Josh’s arms and it was love at first sight. Joshua Trae Keeney was adopted on July 1, 2011. Josh loved Trae with his whole heart. The past few years Josh’s health declined and they were often separated for medical treatments, but without fail, Josh would video call Trae every single day. He was so proud of the young man Trae was becoming.Survivors include his wife, Marcy Keeney; son, Joshua Trae Keeney; father, Lanny Joe Keeney and wife Glenda of Littlefield,; mother, Anna Vern Keeney of Borger; three brothers, Jim Keeney and wife Ashley of Borger, Joedy Keeney and wife Jessica of Littlefield, and Matt Roberts and wife Sarah of Dumas; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Sherra Fahsholtz of Lubbock; sister-in-law, Tara Seymour and husband Lynn of Lubbock; three nieces, Brenna Moore, Ansley Dawson, and Liberty Keeney; eight nephews, Matthew, Mason and Micah Keeney, J.D.
