The family of Jose Hernandez will celebrate his life of 76 years at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the Christ the King Cathedral. His rosary will be at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, October 27, 2021, followed by visitation, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. He passed on Saturday, October 16, 2021. We invite you to view the live-streamed rosary, sign his virtual guestbook and download his memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing here on this page.On May 28, 1945, Jose was born to Jose and Josephine Hernandez in Abernathy, TX.  Jose graduated from Abernathy High School in 1963 and joined the United States Airforce in December 1964 and served for four years.  He married Estella Lara on January 30, 1971, in Lamesa, TX. He worked for Southwestern Bell (AT&T) for over 25 years.  His greatest joys in life were spending time with his kids and grandkids, attending mass with his wife, and hunting.Survivors include his wife, Estella Hernandez; their children, Robert Hernandez and Stephen Hernandez; grandchildren, Kerry Gonzalez, Kailey Bueno, Mateo Hernandez; his mother, Josephine Melstead; siblings, Paul Hernandez, Rosa Vecchio, Corina Rangel, Mary Holguin, Julia Riojas.He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Hernandez; son, Jaime Hernandez; brother, Christobal Hernandez.
