Johnny Thomas Pope entered into eternal life on September 2, 2025. He was born on July 14, 1945, in Lubbock, Texas, to J.B. and Nellie Mae Pope.
On October 15, 1966, Johnny married the love of his life, Dannie, and together they built a beautiful life. They had two sons, Lynn and Jimmy, and also lovingly raised their nephews, Ronnie and Larry DuBois.
Johnny was a longtime member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 629. After retiring from the union, he opened his own plumbing business alongside his two sons, Lynn and Jimmy. He was proud to work with his family and pass down his knowledge and skills.
Johnny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was slow to anger and a man of few words — mostly because his wife did enough talking for the both of them. He loved fishing, tinkering around in his shop, and had a soft spot for every dog he ever met.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Nellie Mae Pope; his brothers, Ted and Donald; his sister, Fernie; and his beloved wife, Dannie Pope.
Johnny is survived by his sons, Lynn Pope and Jimmy Pope (wife, Amy); his grandchildren, Presley Robertson (husband, Ty), Cooper Pope (fiancée, Madison), Bodie Pope, and Kynlee Pope; his great-granddaughter, Murphey Robertson; and his best friend, Mrs. Rachel Woodson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rachel Woodson and Debbie Callander and the wonderful and caring staff at The Callander house south for the loving care they provided Johnny during the last years of his life. They became family and poured out countless blessings over him.
Visitation will be held at Lakeridge Chapel on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 3-5pm. A graveside service will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the animal rescue of your choice — a cause close to Johnny’s heart.
