We extend our love and sympathy to all of you as you miss Johnny's presence with you now. He was such a loved character by our family. We anticipated his fun welcome to OBC each Sunday, and his "Sunday best" jumpsuit and tie. He made everyone feel loved and welcome. I ran across an old cd recently that was recorded for the dot 75. That brought back some fun memories. James appreciated him when they served on the elder board together. They had a good phone visit a little more than a year ago. We loved and appreciated him, as well as your whole family. He lived life well and his life pointed to the Savior! We all will be together someday, and what a wonderful time that will be!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

May the Spirit comfort and encourage you through thousands of wonderful thoughts and memories of John, letting the hard parts fade away till only the joy of his life remains. I am glad to have been able to call him a friend in my life, and gladder still to know we will have a walk together someday in that special part of heaven made for those of us that grew up in west Texas.

We are saddened to hear of Johnny passing. I will always remember that John Kidd would meet you with a big smile and a handshake. His big heart touched a lot of young people from Pop Warner football, Little League baseball, Junior high sports and all the Permian Panthers. God Bless John, Donna, and your family. Rest in Peace John Kidd, your big heart and infectious laugh will be missed.

No one had a better big brother than I. He was 10 years older. And tormented the fire out of me. Wrapped my head in a blanket , struggled me in a closet. He said I had 10 arms and legs when he did that. But I got him back, one day he was napping on the couch, I banged him in the head with one of the heaviest cooking spoons we had in the house. My brother, Hot Rod protected me all his life. And I’ve had his back as well. And I know without a doubt he will continue to watch over me in heaven.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I got to know John through work. I thought the world of him. Big hugs and prayers for everyone.
Mike left a message on August 4, 2025:
John had a heart as big as his laugh. He was the Grand Foobah of the table of knowledge at Whataburger meeting house. I can remember on several occasions he would tell me to give him a hundred dollars whereupon he would more than match it and go do something extraordinary for somebody in need. His humor was only exceeded by his generosity for helping others. I’m proud to call him friend. Rest in peace my friend until we meet again! Mike

I knew Mr. Kidd and his family from Odessa Bible Church in Odessa, Tx. He always brought a smile to my face just because his presence was so uplifting. He always brought with him joy and laughter. My condolences to his beautiful family during this most dufficult time.

I am saddened to hear of Johnny’s passing. I only recently met him and Donna when I attended a Rankin class reunion, with my husband Randy, in Lubbock, at their home. I was anxious to attend as I would not know anyone, but I felt so welcome by them that I soon felt right at home. Johnny was so good to check on me after Randy’s passing in March and even though I only knew him a short time, I feel I have lost a dear friend. My heart aches along with the family and friends as he will be greatly missed. I pray for comfort for all who loved him,
