Jimmy married Charlene Ward Sims on January 24, 1954, at First Baptist Church of Ropesville, where they lived and raised their family. Jimmy farmed for several years and later worked at Lubbock Methodist Hospital in the heating and air conditioning department. He served as a deacon and song leader for many years at First Baptist Church. Jimmy was a strong man of faith who loved the Lord. He enjoyed his years of service at the church, and he loved the time spent with family and friends.Survivors include his children, Alisa Collier; Steven Sims and wife Laura; four grandchildren, Kami Sutton and husband Randy; Kerry Collier and wife Elizabeth; Kristin Schweers and husband Brandon; Shannon Ware and husband Matt; four great-grandchildren, Makenzie Emerson, Grabriel and Brodie Sutton; Autumn Collier; and Jamison Schweers.He was preceded in death by his parents, Tonnie and Lois Sims; wife, Charlene Ward Sims; and son-in-law Kirk Collier.
