It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Guin Miller, a beloved husband, father, g-pa, brother, friend and boss.

Guin, born on September 9, 1962, in Breckenridge, Texas, peacefully departed from this world on October 17, 2024, in his home in Lubbock, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. He is no longer suffering and is rejoicing in the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ.

Guin graduated from Woodson High School and attended Cisco College. Guin married Charla Williams on April 18, 1987, in Post, Texas. Guin started his own business in Lubbock, specializing in structural steel construction. His work ethic and passion for his craft were unmatched. He strived to continually improve his business, and his employees’ lives with his dedication and hard work. Guin also found time to enjoy his hobbies such as cruising in his jeep, playing softball, working on the back patio and most importantly, spending time with his family. These unbroken commitments defined his essence.

Guin is survived by his adoring wife, Charla Miller; sons, Chase (Jennifer) Tatum and Chad Miller (Heather Pierson); and daughter, Alex (Clint) Windham. Guin’s memory will be lovingly preserved by his brothers, James, Steve, Michael, Tommy, Pete Ray and Rocky Miller; as well as his sister, Nancy “Bunny” Lynch. His grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally, Michael Tatum, Elliott Windham, and Nicholas Tatum, will forever cherish the moments shared with their beloved grandfather. Baby McCalan Windham will be welcomed into the family this Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Although he will have never met his g-pa, he will know how much he loved him.
Guin was preceded in death by his parents, Guin “Sonny” Miller and Mary Ann Sparks; and his grandparents, Ivan and Florence Miller.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org in honor of Guin. His impact on those who knew him will be everlasting, a true testament to a life celebrated and deeply cherished.

Guin was a lifelong presence in my life. I remember him always laughing at my stories and welcoming me into their house always (did he have much of a choice, though, since I would just let myself in?). I also remember riding around with him and Alex listening to “Witchy Woman,” a song I thought was the coolest then because I loved witches and wizards. I also remember running into their house after being backed into by a car in my dad’s truck and leaving the scene because I was driving without a license. I ran in and went straight to Guin, as though he could fix the situation. But that was because I thought he could, because he was always there for his kids and their friends. Alex and I loved spying on him in the living room when I would be over. I will miss his laugh, kindness, and how much love he gave to one of my favorite families ever. I’m so happy to have had him in my life for 33 years. I love you, Guin. I love you Allie Boo, Chad, Charla, and Chase. Until we meet again, Guin, thanks for always making your house a safe haven for me. ❤️
