Genevra Leona Hale Smith was born September 10, 1927, in Draw Redwine Community, Lynn County, TX to Ellis Perry Hale and Ella Gertrude Hale.
She resided in Redwine and Draw Community until age 13, moving southeast of Levelland, TX in 1940, where she finished her education. She met her future husband Robert Earl Smith on a school bus. They were married July 21, 1945, in Smyre, TX. Robert was her confidant and best friend throughout life.
Genevra gave birth to two daughters: Linda Kay in 1946; and Karen Latrice in 1948.
She accepted Christ as her Savoir in 1950 and was a member of the Baptist Church until her death.
Genevra grew up on the farm with her parents and learned to work in the field, pull cotton trailers, drive grain trucks, change flat tires and other chores to help her family make a living. Those proved to be useful skills as she and Robert farmed in Terry and Hockley counties for 60 years.
Genevra loved to sew and make clothes for herself and the girls and to cook for family and friends. Her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her larger family were the loves of her life. Her greatest desire was to see them all come to know Christ as their Savior.
Genevra is survived by her daughters: Linda Kay Hurd of Lubbock, TX and Karen Latrice Moore of Wolfforth, TX; Five Grandchildren, Nine Great-Grandchildren and Four Great-Great Grandchildren.
