With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Freda Riddle, who went to be with Jesus on May 26, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on September 5, 1934, in Delta County, Texas, Freda graduated from Cooper High School and soon after married the love of her life, James Riddle, on Valentine’s Day in 1954. Together they created a beautiful family, raising their sons Joe and Jack in Dallas before moving to Lubbock in 1961.
She spent many years as a switchboard operator with Bell Telephone, and her passion for helping others mirrored her husband’s career as a dedicated police officer. Throughout her life, Freda was active in her community, being involved with the Shriner’s organization alongside James and a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi. She cherished her time at Second Baptist Church and now at Life Point Baptist Church, where she found joy in fellowship and service.
Family meant the world to Freda, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, Nick and Curtis, and her great-grandchildren, Regan, Rhett, and Harper. Her passions extended to traveling, dancing, and her deep love for animals, especially dogs.
Freda will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Joe (Anitra) Riddle of Lubbock, TX and Jack Riddle of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Nick (Katya) Riddle of Lubbock,, TX and Curtis (Micah) Riddle of Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren, Regan, Rhett, and Harper; and brothers, Harold (Jackie) Douglas and Robert (Karen) Douglas all of Enloe, Tx.
Freda was preceded in death by her husband, James Riddle
