Everett Lee Lawson was born on November 17, 1933, to Henry and Flossie Lawson in Eastview, KY. Everett graduated from Pine Township High School as Valedictorian. He received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and began his career in Hospital Engineering at Marion General Hospital. That career path would take him to Ingalls Hospital in Harvey, Illinois, Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, IL, and St. Joe Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Everett spent the last 18 years of his career as Director of Facilities at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, where he retired in 2013. Everett’s love for service prompted him to volunteer for Civil Defense, become an EMT and Paramedic, and go on a mission trip to Guatemala. He was an avid sports spectator, enjoyed music concerts, loved to travel, and started each day with the morning newspaper and a cup of coffee.Survivors include his children, Phyllis Courtright and husband Terry of Lubbock, and David Lawson and wife Tracy of Hobbs, NM; along with their mother, Shirley Lawson; his beloved granddaughter, Terra Courtright; brother-in-law, Paul Godbey; niece Kim Godbey and nephew, Keith Godbey.Along with his parents, Everett is preceded in death by his wife Kathryn; and sister Betty Godbey.Everett had recently moved to Lubbock, Texas, to be near his children and granddaughter. On November 13, 2020, Mr. Lawson passed away of natural causes at home, surrounded by his loving family. Due to Covid 19, there are no services planned at this time.
