Dottie Kay Sampley passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6 to 8 p.m. today, August 21, 2018 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 75 years on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel. Dottie was born on May 22, 1943 to Charles and Virginia (Blevens) Hendrix in Slaton, TX. She grew up in Woodrow and graduated from Cooper High School. Dottie worked as a crop adjuster for Federal Crop Insurance Company and retired after 35 years. Her hobbies included all kinds of arts and crafts and baking, for which she won several blue ribbons. Dottie was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. She was very active in her children’s youth sports activities as they grew up and she always enjoyed that special time that she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandson, Rhett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Dawn Sharece Jonas, and a sister, Charlcie Myers.
Dottie is survived by her son, Shawn Sampley and wife Debbie of Lubbock; grandchildren, Brooke Scarlett and husband Logan of Shallowater, Emily Broadstreet and husband Curtis of Lubbock, Blake Jonas of New Braunfels, and Brock Jonas of New Braunfels; a great-grandson, Rhett Scarlett; a brother, Charles Hendrix of Lubbock, and two sisters, Peggy (Cookie) Taylor of Grand Prairie, and Patty (Candy) Sampley of Lubbock, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
