Franka Don Whitworth, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on October 10, 2023, at the age of 94. Don peacefully departed this world at his residence in Lubbock, TX, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born October 4, 1929, to V.H. and Cora Blagg Whitworth, in Lubbock, TX. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1947 and attended Texas Technical College. He married Robbie Jay Hemmeline on June 30, 1948 in Lubbock. They were married 75 years.
Don was known for his dedication to his work and his passion for engineering. He pursued his career as a design engineer in the heavy equipment industry, leaving an indelible mark on the projects he undertook. Don spent most of his career with Hancock Manufacturing and Clark Equipment. He also was employed by NDT in Midland and Ferguson Manufacturing in Dallas. Throughout his professional journey, Don earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his leadership and expertise.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Robbie Whitworth. Together, they were blessed with three children: son Kerry Whitworth, daughter Kathy Nickell (Robert), and son Keith Whitworth (Patricia), six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Don loved his family dearly and took great pride in watching them grow into the remarkable individuals they became. His love and support will forever live on in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made in Don’s memory to The Childrens Home Of Lubbock.
Don’s departure leaves a void in our lives, but his memory will continue to inspire us to live our lives with purpose, determination, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. Though he may be gone, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Rest in peace, dear Don. Your journey may have ended, but your legacy will endure forever.
