Wandell “Dell” Gray passed away January 8, 2019. A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled 6 to 8 pm, Friday, January 11, 2019 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 78 years at 10 am on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 pm in Floydada Memorial Park in Floydada, Texas.
Dell was born on February 21, 1940 to Wayne and Roberta (Watson) Russell in Floydada, TX. She married Virgil Boothe in August 1955 and had five daughters together. She later married William Gray on July 4, 1975 in Floydada, Texas. She was an accomplished pianist and followed her desire and passion for music by teaching piano, organ and voice for over 50 years. She also served numerous years in the order of Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, United Methodist Women’s Group, and church pianist. She instilled in each of her daughters her love for music. Her talents included composing and performing three songs that she wrote. Her marriage to Bill of 33 years included performing on stage as a music duo. She was quoted as saying “The Lord gave me an opportunity and the talent. It has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.”
Survivors include her children, Dorma (John) Bobo of San Antonio; Trina (Randy) Ceplina of Westcliffe, CO; Kim (Jim) Bold of Carrollton; William E. (Sharyn) Gray, Jr. of Lubbock; Tammy (Todd) Vickers of Lubbock; and Jeanine (Kary) Helms of Lake Brownwood; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William E. Gray; daughter, Darryn Boothe-Gray; granddaughter, Tiffany Savage.
