Dean Burfield passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 69. A celebration of his life and legacy will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.
Dean was born on February 21, 1956, in Lubbock to N.D. Burfield and Bobbie Bledsoe Lightfoot. He was raised in Dimmitt, Texas, where he graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1974. Throughout his life, Dean was deeply committed to education and self-improvement. He worked for many years as an accountant and later attended Wayland Baptist University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational Education, a Master’s of Business Administration and a second Master’s of Arts in Management. He went on to head the business program at Vista College, where he poured his knowledge and heart into teaching and helping others grow.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne and Glenn, and stepfather Henry “Pop” Lightfoot. Dean is survived by his loving partner of thirteen years, Rosa Factor; his children, Tammie Burfield and Michael Burfield; his granddaughter, Aubrie Burfield; his mother, Bobbie Lightfoot; his sisters, Denila and LeeAnn; his sisters-in-law, Margaret and Martha; and many extended family members, whom he loved dearly.
Dean had a personality that was larger than life—loving, goofy, and always quick with a joke. He was known for his infectious laugh and ear-to-ear grin. He could crack himself up better than anyone else and often did. Dean’s humor was constant, unfiltered, and deeply loved.
The outdoors was his happy place—fishing, hunting, grilling, sitting on the porch, or making homemade ice cream. In his younger days, he was a model train enthusiast, a collector of John Deere model tractors and taught country and western dance lessons.
His legacy is one of steadfast love and hard-earned wisdom. He was a man who stood by his beliefs, taught the value of hard work, and lived with unshakable determination. He will be remembered with laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for a life well lived.
