David Eddle Briggs was born May 19, 1927, to Alton and Beatrice Briggs Sr. in Altoona, PA. He married Joan Forney on June 23, 1949, Altoona, PA. He graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, and Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas TX. The Lord led him to direct boys’ homes in Lake Charles, LA (Boys Village) and LaPorte, TX. After moving to Alief, TX, he took the necessary classes to obtain his teaching certificate to teach junior high and high school Mathematics. Teach took him to Hobbs, TX, and finally to Gail, TX. During this time his daughters, Billie and Bobbie began riding and showing jumping horses. Dave did ride some but he enjoyed taking care of the horses. He was even the family farrier. In 1982 the Briggs bought a boarding stable in Lubbock, TX. Dave hung up his teaching hat in 1988 after 26 years and Mr. and Mrs. B (known fondly to many) moved to Lubbock to help Billie with the stable. Dave used his knowledge of tools and engines to keep the place going.
Dave loved the Lord and walked in His footsteps every day. He cherished his family and would go out of his way to help a friend.
David Briggs is survived by his wife, Joan Briggs; daughter Billie Briggs; brother, William (Phyllis) Briggs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Beatrice Briggs Sr.; daughter, Bobbie Briggs; brother, Alton Briggs Jr.
