Tunnie, Dad, Grandpo, and Honey went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2020 after a long and beautiful life story. The family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. We will celebrate his life of 94 years at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 31, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel. Friends are invited to share memories and expressions of sympathy for the family to cherish in the area below the obituary.Tunnie’s beautiful life story began in Salina, Kansas on October 20, 1925, born to Lorin and Mae Sharpe. He was a young business owner. Tunnie was a World War II Veteran that fought bravely for his country. He was a well-traveled man, that settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico after meeting and marrying the love of his live, Mary Helen Velarde. They married on June 20, 1953, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Tunnie and Helen were blessed with a child, Carlos in 1958. They lived happily in Santa Fe growing what they became known for, their Garden of Love. Tunnie lived out the remainder of his life surrounded by his loving family in Lubbock, Texas, where he will be laid to rest.Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Sharpe; son, Charles “Carlos” Anthony Sharpe Jr., and wife, Anita; three grandchildren, Nichole (Dan) Stanton, Felicia (Jonathon) Read, Crystal (Justyne) Bowles; four great-grandchildren, Elliott and Kinleigh Stanton, Hadley and Jaidyn Read.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorin and Mae Sharpe.
