The family of Barbara Elliott will celebrate her life of 70 years at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Southcrest Baptist Church. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel & Memorial Designers. She passed on Sunday, October 25, 2020. In support of the health of her family, face coverings are mandatory while attending the services. The service will be live-streamed on this page where you are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy.On May 29, 1950, Barbara Ann Bingham was born to V.F. “Bing” and Jean (Casey) Bingham in Lubbock, Texas. Barbara was a talented basketball player at Slaton High School and used that talent to become a Women’s Basketball Letter Winner at Texas Tech University from 1971-1972. Barbara earned her Bachelor’s in Physical Education, Health, and Secondary Speech in 1973, a Master’s in Mid-Management in 2001, and a Superintendent’s certificate in 2001, all from Texas Tech University. She became the Assistant Principal at Rush Elementary in 2008 and enjoyed a long and successful 46-year Lubbock ISD career while serving multiple campuses across the elementary, middle, and high school spectrum. Barbara was deeply respected and loved by her colleagues, students, and families. In addition to being a long-time educator, she was a passionate Red Raider! She was a big supporter of Texas Tech Athletics and a dear friend of the Double T Varsity Club. In the last few years of her life, Barbara became very involved at Southcrest Baptist Church through choir, multiple Bible Studies, and trips to Israel and Greece. Her involvement was driven by her passion to know God and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to bring God glory by completing the work He gave her (John 17:3-4). Her family is eternally grateful to the Bible-saturated teaching ministry of Dr. David Wilson and his incredible staff at Southcrest Baptist Church. To God, be the glory!Survivors include her son, John Elliott and wife Cherissa of Frisco; granddaughter, Charis Elliott, of Frisco; brother, Michael “Mike” Bingham and wife Sharon of San Antonio; niece, Melody Harris and husband Kurt; nephew, Michael Dale Bingham and wife LeeAnne and their families; a cousin, Ralph Bauer; along with many other beloved relatives and friends.She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, David Elliott.
