Alice Curry Shivers

Alice was born on April 5, 1933 to Silas and Jewell (Powers) Breland in Olton, TX. She graduated from Olton High School and married Bill Curry on June 16, 1951 in Olton. Alice served as a pastor’s wife, working alongside her husband in many Baptist churches in Texas and New Mexico. Bill died on Dec. 23, 1992. On December 4, 1993 she married Wesley Shivers in Quitaque and he died on July 11, 2010. She was self-employed and worked in sales of Home Interiors for many years. She was a member of Wayne Ave. Baptist Church. She also enjoyed playing all kinds of card games.Along with her parents and both of her husbands, Alice is preceded in death by three brothers, Marcus, Wendell and Royce Breland, and a sister, Mary BrelandAlice is survived by her three sons, Eddy (Dee Ann) Curry of Abilene, Dan (Alicia) Curry of Arlington, and Larry (Amanda) Curry of Plainview, seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wanda McCarty of Phoenix, AZ, and Deloyce Brothers of Clovis, NM.
