The Angels rejoiced as you entered Heaven’s gates. John H. Dunn, Jr., better known as Junior, passed away peacefully the evening of Tuesday, May 5, 2020, in Midland, TX. Junior lived the majority of his time in Perryton, TX, before moving to Lubbock, TX. In 2017, Junior made the decision to move to Midland, TX to be closer to both of his daughters. This is where he met his companion, Jean. How many times in a life does the same man meet the two loves of his life, both named Jean? Junior was born in Crowell, TX, to Howard and Zada Dunn on June 13, 1934. He was 85 years old.He married the love of his life on June 14, 1953, in Sunray, Texas.Junior worked for North Plains, Texas Oil and Gas, Marathon Oil, and Continental Resources. Junior was a man of many passions, including his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, fishing, spending time on the lake, missionary work, deacon accomplishments, and anything outdoor-related. His son’s ranch, Double D Ranch, located in Watervalley, TX, was a place Junior thoroughly enjoyed visiting. Junior took a heavy role in building the ranch house. At the ranch, he would play washers against anyone willing to play the game; he would drive the tractor and plow and plant the fields, cook for the hunters, and guide the hunters. He was always cracking jokes and making people laugh.Junior is lovingly remembered by his companion, Jean; children Denise Taylor and her husband, Bill; Kayla McMillan and her husband, Lee; Kevin Dunn and his wife, Tina. Pepa is forever remembered by his grandchildren Melissa Curry Brown and husband, Mike; Sean Curry and wife, Nikki; RJ Dunn and fiance, Alyssa; Abby Dunn Jones and husband, Dustin; and Shelby McMillan. His great-grandchildren include Colton and Madison Brown, Holly and Hannah Curry, and Quinn and Maggie Jones. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Donna Dunn.Junior was predeceased by his wife, Jean; parents, Howard and Zada; son, Kelly Dunn; siblings, Bob, Clay, and Edna; and son-in-law, Alan Ray Curry. A celebration of life will be held for the family at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, at The Lake Ridge Chapel in Lubbock and visitation for friends following from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
