The family of Tommy Glen Jinks will celebrate his life of 89 years at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel. He passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020. In support of the health of his family, face coverings are mandatory while attending the service and visitation. The service will be live-streamed and be available for thirty days on this page. You are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy by selecting the icon.Tommy was born on March 22, 1931, to Robert and Ella Dee Jinks in Kings Mill, Texas. He grew up in Lefors, where he graduated from high school. Tommy continued his education at West Texas State University with a football scholarship. He interrupted his education to enlist in the Marines during the Korean War. After serving two years, Tom returned to WTSU to complete his playing time on the football field and his education. He received a Bachelors and a Masters Degree from the University. During his final year in college, he met the love of his life, Beverly Jo Nance. They married several months later on May 30, 1953. They were blessed with two children. Tom began his coaching career in Clarendon, Texas, where he coached football and track. He later moved his family to Clovis, New Mexico, to further his coaching career. In 1966 he again moved to Muleshoe, Texas, where he completed his career as a high school principal, Assistant Superintendent of Finances and Interim Superintendent of Muleshoe ISD.Tommy was known by many names: Tommy, Daddy, Poppa, Tom, Terrible Tom, Mr. Jinks, and Uncle Tommy. His great love was his family, followed by his “Boys” and friends. He loved to travel with his family, fly his plane, hunt, and fish on his boat. He also took pride in his small farm, where he raised a few heads of cattle. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family and talking about his many adventures.Tommy is survived by his wife, Beverly Jinks, daughter Jan (Zac) Rinard; son, Timothy (Vicki) Jinks; three grandchildren, Krysta (Toby) Cecil, Jennifer (Justin) Grisson, Austin Thomas (Danielle DuBos) Jinks; three great-grandchildren, Kennedy Cecil, Brecklyn Cecil, Rykhr Grissom.He was preceded in death by his parent, Robert and Ella Dee Jinks, a grandson, Seth Jinks, and two brothers, Tollie and James Jinks and sister Maxine Parker.
