Kimberly Kay Bryan entered her heavenly place on Sunday, September 6, 2020, after a three year, hard-fought fight against a dreaded disease. “KK” was surrounded by her family and best friend in exactly the way she wanted and on her own terms.“KK” was born on October 7, 1967, to Bill and Ginger in Quincy, Illinois. She is survived by her father Bill Bryan and wife Lois; her mother Ginger Mackiewicz and husband Henry, daughter Michelle and Tyler, grandchildren Alexandria, Kamron and Faith, sister Michelle Colby and husband Greg, their children Mitchell and Julia, and her sister Jackie Mackiewicz.KK grew up in Quincy, Illinois, before entering the Air Force to serve her country as a Military Police Officer. Her assignments included Okinawa, Japan, Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia, and Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. KK had a great love for our country and was proud and honored of her service to keep America safe. KK lived a life of service to her country and her community. She began her career with Lubbock Police Department as a 911 dispatcher in July of 1996. There are many stories about KK and her dispatching skills. She took her job very seriously and took pride in providing the citizens of Lubbock with service for 17 years. Her highest priority was being the safe, calm voice for the officers in the field, and she was highly respected for her skills, attention to detail, and fierce stance on officer safety. KK met her “bestie” Melissa Orosco at LPD and were soon inseparable, even to her last moment.KK began dispatching for the Department of Public Safety in July of 2014 and was still employed at the time of her death. Her job was a little different than with LPD, but she grew to love her DPS family as well. She loved serving the citizens of Lubbock and outlying cities, providing the same care, concern, and protection as she did with her position at LPD.KK’s favorite moments were spending time with her daughter Michelle and her grandchildren; they were the “bright light” in her life. She loved hiking, was an amazing cook, was the ultimate gift-giver, drinking wine with friends or her sister Michelle and watching TV with her daughter or Melissa.KK’s wishes were for a celebration at a later date with friends and family.
