She was married to Douglas “Bob” Luck in Lovington, New Mexico. The marriage produced a daughter, Cathy Sue, born in 1956.Cathy and her husband, Charles Lawrence Ehrenfeld, live in Lubbock, where Joyce resided with them. She resided in Midland until July 1, 2020.Joyce was a World War II nurse cadet, and upon completing service, was a nurse in Andrews, Texas, during the oil boom. She was on the board of the Andrews County Hospital, served as a school nurse at San Andres and Underwood Elementary schools in Andrews. Upon moving to Midland, she ran Homemakers Upjohn for the entire West Texas region.Joyce kept her R.N. license current until 2020. Nursing was her life, and she attended her 65th nursing school reunion in Waco, Texas.She was known for her devout Christian values and generosity. Joyce was keenly aware of those in need due to her own meager upbringing.Entertaining was also a joy. Polishing her silver and adorning a table with crystal and milk glass filled with homemade delights were enjoyed by so many. She was well known in the neighborhood as the fastest pie maker around.Her faith, compassionate heart, and continual desire to identify and attend to the needs of others was a mission.Joyce was a life-long Democrat, devout Christian, and firm believer that cigarette smoking and obesity were the causation of all illnesses.She loved shoes, fashion and kept an immaculate home. She copied many styles from Jacqueline Kennedy.Joyce, Mother, Nurse, Wife, Friend, Advocate, is in her Heavenly Home. Above all, we thank God Almighty for her life, and we pray those who do not know the Lord will talk to a friend or clergy to help you.She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, and five siblings: Moneta Mayberry, Parnell Alexander, Helen Pinnell, Joe Bob Alexander, and Dr. Wanda Blockhus.
