On August 4, 1930, Josie was born to Juan and Modesta Padilla in Logan, New Mexico. She married Selso Ramirez, Sr. on February 24, 1952, in Clayton, New Mexico. Together they have four children and nine grandchildren. Josie was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church until moving to Lubbock, where she became a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She worked as a medication aide for Coon Memorial Nursing Home in Dalhart, TX, for 37 years until she retired. Josie and Selso moved to Lubbock in July 2018 to be near their children.Survivors include their children, Lora Asmussen, Selso (Kim) Ramirez, Jr., Mark (Londe) Ramirez, and Toni Lowrance; grandchildren, Sandra (Martin) Dawe, Krista (Brad) Melcher, Mika (Larry) Pierce, Brian (Cristi) Asmussen, Mark (Laura) Asmussen, Meghan (Michael) Simpson, Steven (Jessica) Ramirez, Melisa Lowrance, and Debra (Cody) Miller; great-grandchildren, Dominick Wright, Kiara Wright, Ariel Wright, Jordan Ramirez, Isabel Ramirez, Adan Pierce, Caleb Simpson, Kolbe Asmussen, Hayden Lowrance, Reagon Asmussen, Ava Pierce, Aden Loucks, Isaac Ramirez, Grant Asmussen, Cadence Simpson, Tommy Asmussen, Elizabeth Asmussen, Cecilia Asmussen, Camille Simpson, and Lucy Asmussen; siblings, John (Elisa) Padilla, Bobby (Ruth) Padilla, and Mary (Lonnie) Villarreal.She was preceded in death by parents Juan and Modesta Padilla; spouse, Selso Ramirez, Sr.; sister, Emilie Weatherman and brother-in-law, Kenneth Weatherman; brother, Fred Padilla.The family of Josie Ramirez will gather to recite the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated in honor of Josie’s life of 91 years at 10:00 am on Friday, August 20, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lubbock, Texas.
