WOn May 19, 1975, Joel was born to Ronnie and Alice Cox in San Angelo, TX. He married Sara Reston on May 22, 1999, at the First Baptist Church, Sonora, Texas.Joel lived a life so deserving of honoring and celebrating. He had an incredible gift of building relationships with everyone regardless of their background or walk of life. He intuitively found a way to meet people where they were, make a great connection, and help them to smile, laugh, and feel valued. As a young child, Joel would greet customers at his Dad’s drugstore on Main Street in Sonora and total strangers on Main Street Disneyland when he was nine years old.Joel graduated from Sonora High School, attended Angelo State University, and graduated from Texas Tech University. After graduation, Joel married Sara Reston, whom he met in 7th grade in Sonora. He started his work career in the corporate sector but learned that the value of family time was more important. Joel joined a company with the same family values, and thanks to San Antonio Steel Company, Joel enjoyed the happiest years of his career. He felt honored to represent a company like SASCO with high values and character. As Jesus taught us to be servants, Joel practiced service in his life. He was a loving husband and father, a prized son, and the best brother ever, uncle, and friend. Joel enjoyed serving others and making them happy as he cooked for family and friends. He was a great conversationalist with his beautiful smile and his infectious laugh. Everyone who had spent any time with Joel felt better for that experience.Joel enjoyed family vacations, youth sports, and activities with Sara, Mason and Miles. As an Eagle Scout, he taught them to appreciate God’s creations in the outdoors and how to be self-sustained through hunting and fishing.Joel lives in the hearts of each person he met in life, leaving the legacy of love, service, and happiness.Survivors include his wife, Sara Cox; their children, Mason Cox, and Miles Cox; his parents, Ronnie and Alice (Duncan) Cox; his father and mother-in-law, Reggie and Janie Reston; sister, Carrie Dunn and husband David; sister-in-law, Amy Baker; nephews, Gerod and Colton Dunn; and niece, Lillian Dunn.
