The family of Barbara Gibson will celebrate her life of 85 years at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 18, 2022, at the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. We invite you to sign her virtual guestbook and download her memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing.An amazing mother passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022.Barbara was born in Crosbyton, Texas on November 12, 1936, to Lawrence and Lou Isa Starrett. She resided in Lubbock, Texas for over 65 years.Barbara had a passion for her family, friends, and her work. She was involved with her three children’s lives from homeroom mom, girl scout leader, assistant baseball coach, and every activity they were involved in.While raising her three children, Barbara completed her degree at Texas Tech University and later received her Real Estate License. She was always seeking to better herself. In 1969, she co-authored with her husband Miles E. Gibson, five books of flight curriculum for the Federal Aviation Association training pilots to be crop dusters.In the 70’s, Barbara enjoyed buying real estate near Texas Tech University and renting to college students. She believed education was one of the most important qualities of a happy life and encouraged her tenants to graduate. She took an interest in every person she met. Barbara was a well-respected and cherished friend to many people.Barbara loved working outdoors from mowing rent house lawns to working on her family’s farm. In the 90’s, she was one of the first farmers to raise fiber-max cotton. She could grow anything —Cotton, Sunflowers, Vegetable Gardens and Beautiful Rose Gardens.Barbara also had a strong love for all animals. She was always rescuing stray, hurt, and abandoned animals. If she didn’t keep them herself, she would find them a good home, helping the new owners with vet bills and food.Barbara’s Motto “Enjoy your work and you will always be happy.” She was fortunate to be able to work her entire life.Barbara and her husband Miles were members of the First United Methodist Church.Barbara will be desperately missed by all those she’s left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this sudden loss. She was “One of a Kind” and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.Barbara is survived by daughter Cheri Gibson Strait of Lubbock, Texas, daughter Karla Gibson Donnell and her husband Wade Donnell of Paradise, Texas, son, Mark E. Gibson of Austin, Texas. Granddaughters; Natalie Wire, April Stone and her husband JW Stone. Skylar Strait Wisdom and her husband Jake Wisdom. Grandson, Miles G. Gibson. One great-grandson, James Wire.
