As a young girl, she moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas, where she spent her primary and junior high school years. In 1955, Barbara moved with her family to Lubbock, Texas, and attended Lubbock High School, where she met her husband-to-be, Marion Alfred John. Marion and Barbara were wed on August 28, 1958, and spent 57 happy years together until Marion’s death in December 2015.Barbara is survived by her sister, Betty Headley, also of Lubbock Texas; three children – daughter Lisa John (Lubbock), son Scott John and wife Kelli (Houston), and son Brent John and wife Shari (Mineral Wells); six grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law – Kellen Strahan and wife Meredith, Page Carter and husband Chris, Danielle John and husband David, Leslie Ann Holcomb and husband Brady, Davis John and wife Zelda, and Johnna Prather; and one great-grandson, Holden Pittman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Dora Walker, her husband, Marion, and her grandson, Dillon Kole Flowers.Throughout her life, Barbara was active in the churches of Christ, where she served in leadership roles and ministered to hundreds of church members and others in need over a period of 50 years. Most recently Barbara attended the 12th Street Church of Christ in Shallowater, Texas. Barbara was an avid golfer, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren anytime she had the opportunity. She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, grandmother-in-law, and great-grandmother.Barbara was known for her positivity. She enjoyed other people and would rarely criticize or speak ill of others. She was quick with a joke and loved to laugh, and she would often tease those she liked, which included almost everyone she knew. Among those who knew her well, affection for Barbara went beyond admiration and respect; family and friends absolutely adored her.
