The family of William Jackson will celebrate his life of 86 years at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. He passed on Sunday, February 27, 2022. We invite you to view the recording of the service, sign his virtual guestbook, and download his memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing here on this page.On August 14, 1935, Lawrence was born to Marvin and Opal Jackson in Littlefield, TX.Lawrence Jackson knew about hard work at an early age, beginning farming at the age of thirteen years in Bailey County, Texas. After meeting and marrying Doris Underdown, they moved to the Hereford/Adrian, Texas area and raised their family. He farmed with the Brorman Family until his retirement in 2000.His greatest accomplishment in life was raising his daughters, Belva, Belinda, and Lori. He was an attentive parent, never missing a basketball game, and was without a doubt, always their number one fan. As they grew into adulthood, he continued to be supportive as they pursued their careers. His advice was sound, often solicited, and always appreciated.Immediately after retirement, he and Doris moved to New Deal, Texas to be closer to the girls and grandkids. During this time, he met and became a trusted friend of his neighbors and appreciated those friendships so very much.Lawrence was always a hard worker and never knew a stranger. So, he jumped at the opportunity to begin a new adventure at City Bank where he met many new and trusted friends. During this time, he had the benefit of working with his daughter, Belva.Lawrence enjoyed taking new acquaintances to look at the cotton crops around the Lubbock area. Farming was a passion that never left him. Nothing was more satisfying to him than a good conversation about his farming days and the stories they held.In 2019, he decided to spend his days swinging on the front porch and traveling to see his more distant family, along with a few trips to Colorado to ride the train at Durango. He enjoyed watching Texas Tech basketball and baseball games and was known to do a little “armchair coaching”! He enjoyed traveling to Houston to visit his daughter, Lori, and her family. Equally, he always enjoyed going to breakfast on Sundays with his daughter, Belinda. Those who knew him will miss his toothpick always positioned in “just the right place” And, all of us who loved him will miss him ending our conversations with “Shug”, short for sugar, and the phone calls asking, “What channel is the game on?”.We will forever love and miss our Father, PaPa, and wonderful friend.Survivors include his children, Belva (Allen) Lester, of Slaton, Belinda Durham, Lori (Jeff) Van Pelt; grandchildren, Brandon (Nikki) Cage, Breana (Brian) Duncan, Heather (Garrett) Tressler, Dale Lester, Bryce (Jeanette) Dehn, Jacob (Mandy) Van Pelt, Jared (Adriene) Van Pelt; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Naomi Stokesberry, Nadine Scales. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Jackson; mother, Opal Jackson; sister, Venita Simmons; brother, Eugene Jackson; sister, Daphine Jackson.
