With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the family of Douglas Lloyd Mason announces his passing on October 15, 2024, at the age of 78. Douglas was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 12, 1946, to Donald Lloyd and Mary Louise Mason and graduated from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. After completing his education, the call to serve his country beckoned, leading Douglas to enlist in the US Air Force. As a dedicated serviceman, he bravely ventured to Vietnam and later transitioned to the US Army, where he devoted 24 years of his life to defending this nation.
Upon his return to civilian life, Douglas relocated back to Oklahoma and in 1992, he began a second career working for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. After his second retirement he and Jaye moved to Lubbock to be closer to family. Douglas loved cars and had a passion for buying lots of automobiles. He didn’t keep them for very long and was jokingly his son-in-law’s best customer.
Throughout his life’s journey, Douglas touched the lives of many. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Jaye Mason; his children O’Brian Mason, Darrin (Debra) Srader, and Tera (John) Pate. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Alex Mason, Chayse Mason, Emily (Dylan) Payton, Payton Srader, Hayden Srader, Kennedey Pate, Madison (Kyle) O’Dea, Myka (Brice) Smith, Jackson Pate and Roxie Pate; as well as his six great-grandchildren, who will hold his legacy close to their hearts.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Lloyd and Mary Louise Mason; son, Aaron Mason; grandson, Zachary Moore, and a brother, Richard Mason.

In honoring Douglas’ wishes, inurnment will be in the Ft. Gipson National Cemetery, Ft. Gipson, OK.
